Wedding talk:: Gifts of Thanks

This week I have been on the hunt for the perfect thank you gift for my bridesmaids. It's still 4 months out from my big day & yet already I have so much to thank them for...this little power posse have been nothing short of amazing with their recommendations, research & support {their tolerance of my never-ending wedding-prep talk alone deserves to be congratulated!}.

Here are three of my favourite finds from the always-inspiring etsy - each sweet, unique & fitting for your ultimate behind-the-scenes supporters.

A chic kimono is a beautiful option for lounging around in the morning of the wedding...perfect for the girls to wrap themselves up in while they're sipping champagne & waiting for hair & make up. Plus, having them all matching will make for a super cute photo!

A delicate, personalised bracelet is a sweet momento they can wear for years to come. These ones are filled with 14 kt gold & come with a pearl charm extender. Guaranteed, each time they slip it on they'll be flooded with memories from the day.  

These adorable, dusty blue ring-holder dishes are a beautiful gift option that is not only pretty, but functional. A glamorous place for the girls to leave their own precious rings!

Wedding Notes:: Fragrance

I've written before about the power scents have to stir memories & the emotions tied to them. With fragrance playing such an integral role in so many of my favourite & most precious memories, I knew that the scent I will wear for my wedding would be high up on the list of things to consider (dare I say it, even above shoes and jewellery!).

Here is a selection of some of my favourite wedding-day fragrance options, each befitting of an occasion where all eyes are on you & yours are on one person only. They are each unique & distinct, but all equally worthy of a supporting role on your big day.

Creed Fleurissimo
A delicious, fresh floral fragrance fit for royalty, Fleurissimo is the perfume Prince Rainier III had commissioned for his bride, Hollywood beauty Grace Kelly, to wear on their wedding day. With notes of tuberose, Bulgarian rose, violet & Florentine Iris, this is perfection for a spring garden party wedding.

Ralph Lauren Romance
An exquisite fragrance featuring light florals of rose & violet balanced with ginger, oak & musk, this perfume is a cult favourite amongst Ralph Lauren fragrance fans & also holds a special place in my own heart! Classically romantic, it's best suited to an ultra-feminine bride looking for a suitably pretty scent.


Narciso Rodriguez For Her
I first experienced this perfume when I met a friend for dinner & she announced that, after years of searching, she'd found her signature scent, vowing never to stray from Narciso Rodriguez. Like her, I was smitten from the start; the powerful blend of orange blossom, osmanthus, rose, solar musk & peach on an amber, vanilla & soft musk base is different to anything I've ever smelt. Dripping with sensuality & sophistication, For Her is a fragrance for a modern, glamorous bride (I imagine her wearing a Johanna Johnson gown).


Chanel Coco Mademoiselle
Surely no fragrance collection would be complete without a mention from Chanel. Coco Mademoiselle is a luxurious, oriental fragrance that exudes confidence & sophistication. This is one for an elegant bride who requires a fragrance that will hold its own at a black tie, formal wedding.

Vera Wang Vera Wang
An alluring, fairytale fragrance developed by the Queen of fairytale wedding creations herself! Vera Wang is a fresh fragrance rich in floral blooms. With pretty notes of mandarin blossom, Bulgarian rose & gardenia, this is definitely one for the princess bride who has been dreaming of her big day since she was a girl.

Reflect: One Fine Day

The time spent at One Fine Day on Sunday proved the event to be all that I hoped it would be; a delicious collection of inspirational wedding stylists, amazing photographers, exquisite milliners, creative stationers, bespoke designers, scrumptious catering & whimsical, unique wedding concepts, each so special they had me wishing I could stage my big day more than once!

Sun Studios, the perfect location for the day's proceedings, was teeming with talent, Brides-to-be & their entourages. We spent a few blissful hours slipping through the crowds, marvelling at the amazing displays and chatting with industry professionals who were each more passionate than the next about their chosen field. We managed to catch one of the parades, where dreamy wedding gowns & gorgeous bridesmaid dresses by Lisa Ho, Fleur Wood, Moss & Spy & Mrs Press were showcased to perfection, before heading out into the garden to sit in the sun, where we sat sipping champagne & eating delicious gelato pops from the cart parked close by.

Bubbles, Brulee & Bridesmaids

I couldn't imagine my big day without my closest girlfriends by my side, sharing the excitement with my fiancé & I. The thought of having them there with me not only for the planning & lead up, but especially on the morning of, fills me simultaneously with a sense of calm & joy.

Marking the occasion of asking them to be my bridesmaids required an ultra-girly afternoon tea. Think masses of roses in pretty tea-stained shades, plates of elegant sweet treats and lots of bubbles to celebrate....

The super talented Eliza from Letter Bird Lane created bespoke bridesmaid 'invitations' which the girls absolutely adored. The cutest part was that they each received a fun, token ring as part of the invite & which often now they will wear attached to a chain or threaded onto a bracelet, bringing back sweet memories of the afternoon. 

Having them share the excitement makes the journey all the more sweet.

Spotlight: Teeki Designs by Amy Oram

Even before getting engaged, I knew that I wanted to wear my mothers wedding dress when I walked down the aisle. The dress itself is in immaculate condition, its lace perfectly preserved & the delicate buttons still completely intact. Having my gown already has meant I completely side-stepped the whole ritual that is 'finding the perfect dress'. The moments I have perhaps missed however in ooh-ing & ahh-ing with my mum, sister & bridesmaids over beautiful bridal creations will be well & truly made up for...

I am so excited to have the super talented Amy Oram of Teeki Designs designing & creating my bridal headpiece. I have long been a fan of Amy's exquisite pieces & couldn't wait to meet with her to discuss my wedding & ideas.

Amy, a talented designer, dress maker & stylist is the creative beauty & brains behind Teeki. With a dedicated following both here in her native Australia & internationally, Amy specialises in creating unique, couture bridal headpieces. You only need to look at her work to see the incredible amount of detail and intricacy that goes into each piece - she sources materials and textiles to suit each & every Brides gown & wedding style. My wedding will be very much a pretty,  vintage country affair which suits my gown perfectly, however Amy is equally clever with Boho, Modern & High Glamour occasions.

I'm meeting with Amy soon to talk concepts and make plans for my own headpiece. She'll also be working on a secret piece I intend to gift to someone very special to me who has played an instrumental part in my love story. I couldn't imagine anything more perfect to give.

This year marks a significant one in my life - it's the year I'll marry my long-time sweetheart & favourite person in the whole world. Planning our dream day is fun & exciting, though time-consuming! There seems to be an endless supply of beautiful ideas and things that I want to include in our celebration. Each week, I'll be sharing snippets of my journey as a Bride-to-be...because really, who doesn't enjoy a bit of loved-up prettiness?

In a pattern that's becoming all too frequent as I stumble upon website after website of amazing bridal offerings, this week I was delight to add to my wedding collection this divine ring-bearer bowl from Paloma's Nest.
